Polishing
We are using two techniques. Models made of PA2200 can be vibro poilshed. The rest of them are polished manually.
Smoothing the geometry of the model
We know that not everyone likes the look and feel of a 3D printed part. That is why we provide a service of:
Basic
Raw 3D Print (ex. FDM/PLA).
Appearance: Unfinished, visible building layers
Matt
Appearance: Painted, building layers not visible
High Gloss
Appearance: Painted, building layers not visible
Are there any downsides to this?
When we polish the models, there is an impact to the surface of the outer layer of the model to make it much smoother. We have noticed that it can reduce the dimensions by approx 0.1mm, and will fillet sharp edges to a radius. Overall the dimensions stay roughly the same.
RULES OF COOPERATION
DESIGN:
- We recommend designing models with a minimum wall thickness of 1 mm to ensure an even color distribution.
- Models must leave the possibility of removing all unused material. Excess material can cause discoloration.
PRODUCTION
- The model must be thoroughly cleaned.
- The model should be in raw condition
- The model should not be sandblasted or sanded.
- All parts connected with a laser should be clean and free of defects.
Characteristics of the model:
- PA 2200 material
- Prints from EOS machines (Formiga or newer than P390 and P760)
- EOS powder material
- 3D SLS printing material should be mixed at least 50/50 (old / new dust)
